Our History

Gulfrock Capital is a leading equity security investment firm based in London, United Kingdom. Founded in 2020 by distinguished alumni from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School and seasoned professionals from elite European investment managers, Gulfrock offers investment expertise, scale, and access to our diverse client base, including endowments, foundations, family offices, wealth funds, and international institutions focused on preserving and growing multigenerational capital. Our approach is based on the modern value investment disciplines pioneered by Phil Fisher and Warren Buffett. Gulfrock began investing capital in February 2020.

Primarily focused on U.S. and China small-cap and mid-cap equities, our long-only strategy has consistently delivered outstanding results. More importantly, our process sets us apart from traditional equity managers.

We’re an investment manager, and we help people and institutions invest to build savings over the long-term that serve them throughout their lives.

We manage a highly-concentrated, long-only public equity investment portfolio with the objective of compounding capital at high rates of return over a long time horizon. Our investments primarily target U.S. and China small-cap and mid-cap equities. Our investment strategies typically comprises 4-10 concentrated investments and do not use leverage. Our objective is to deliver superior long-term compound annual growth and risk-adjusted performance compared to our primary benchmark, the S&P 500.

Our investments are chosen through an intensive research process focused on identifying high-quality businesses which are run by great management teams. We seek to invest in these high-quality businesses at prices under intrinsic value, which we believes have limited downside and generate predictable, recurring cash flows. We employ an extremely research-intensive approach to equity investing, incorporating a rigorous process of complete research that includes meeting with company management, analysing publicly available information, and conducting proprietary and independent research.

Embracing the modern value investment principles of Warren Buffett, Philip Fisher, and Charles Munger, we primarily focus on long-term public equity security investment opportunities in the United States and Asia. We aim to achieve exceptional returns by being highly-concentrated, long-term owners of high-quality companies with substantial economic moats, impressive growth potential, high downside protection, and led by trustworthy individuals.

Our goal is to accumulate a highly concentrated, undervalued portfolio of businesses with above-average returns on tangible deployed capital to maximize long-term capital gains. Our primary investment filters seek companies that:

Can be purchased at a significant discount to their underlying intrinsic value, providing a margin of safety in our investments
Consistently produce high returns on invested capital and maintain those returns while reinvesting additional capital
Have shareholder-friendly management with a history of accurate, timely and honest reporting of business activities and commitment to maximisation of per-share intrinsic value

We only invest in businesses with high conviction regarding their long-term future prospects. Our focus is on compounding long-term rates while minimising capital gains tax by holding positions where appropriate for an extended number of years.

Broad equity ownership spans multiple generations of our employees, ensuring Gulfrock is constructed for the long term, consistent with the capital which we manage. Partners, employees and members of Gulfrock's Board of Directors have significant personal investment in our vehicles directly alongside our clients’ capital. The unique structure of our managed accounts align interests with and across our clients. Our zero management fee structure and high hurdle rates maximise our incentive alignment with our long-term capital partners.
